Who am I?

I am a writer with comprehensive experience in journalism for small town weeklies, large county dailies, and alternative newsweeklies. In addition, I have experience working in mass media public relations for non-profit organizations, political campaigns, and educational institutions. For the past two years, I have been studying for an MA in Writing from DePaul University. I graduate in June of 2004.

While in school, I have done the following:

• developed documentation of computer software both print and online
• wrote investigative journalism on health, science, mental health as well as personality profiles
  
• wrote, edited, and coordinated publicity campaigns that included:
  direct mail, brochures, catalogs, annual reports, corporate memos, web site copy for both intra- and internet uses, newsletter production, grants for non-profits, and RFPs for small businesses.

I am seeking a career writing for trade publications and clients in the mental health, healthcare, science, legal, and technology industries.

I’ve been described as an idealist. People love to have conversations with me because I know how to listen. I’m detail-oriented, yet I grasp the big picture. I’m poetic but practical. I play with the team and I have a wide network of friends from different backgrounds and geographies. I am looking for freelance, contract, part time, and full-time employment opportunities.
