The thrill of going fast and taking a chance has always appealed to both racers and spectators alike. In today's society, racing has become a multi-billion dollar per year industry. With race leagues and hopeful teams and drivers sprouting up all over the United States, it is easy to get confused about the sport. However, racing is very easy to understand if it is broken down into its simplest terms. Racing in the United States, particularly, can be broken down into two main distinctions

- Open Wheel Racing
As the names indicate, these distinctions differ very much from each other. Although they do differ from each other, both classes of racing draw legions of fans and enthusiasts. Each type of racing also has professional leagues, where the best of the best take the wheel and go head to head, year in and year out.
