WORK EXPERIENCE
2003-Present Northshore Academy Elementary, Mentor; Responsibilities: Provide guidance, support, and companionship to an 11-year-old with depression, four hours a week.
2002-Present Northern Suburban Special Education District, Job Coach; Responsibilities: Assist students with their daily tasks at their place of employment. Develop the students employability and workability skills. Create adaptations for students who require additional assistance. Evaluate and Monitor students with disabilities. Provide computer support to my supervisors and co-workers, as needed. Assist vocational coordinator with job development support.
2000-2002 Northern Suburban Special Education District, Teacher Assistant/Computer Technician; Responsibilities: assist teachers with special education students teaching life, social and employability skills in a transition program. Provide technical support to teachers in the Educational Life Skills Program to Macintosh and PC computers used for educational purposes.
2001-Present Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association, Program Assistant/Leader/Driver; Responsibilities: assist participants with special needs in recreational activities. Drive participants to and from recreational activities. Lead recreational programs for young adults with special needs.
1999-2000 University of New Mexico, Adjunct Professor for Internet 101; Responsibilities: Created a syllabus, lesson plan, and time schedule for 13 school district and community members. Introduced the students to basic internet skills such as, web browsing, virus protection programs, e-mail access, surfing the net, utilizing search engines, and downloading information to the desktop.
1998-2000 LJEC/School to Work, Youth Development Specialist; Responsibilities: Identify gaps and “next steps” in building a solid school to work system; identify technical assistance needs; communicate with stakeholders; and direct staff development and capacity building efforts. Major responsibilities include: restructuring school schedules and establish career paths; gain and maintain support and participation of the school district; engage employers to assist in activities in the workplace with students through field trips and job shadowing efforts; serve all students and provide equal access to all program components such as resource material, career counseling and development, and life and consumer educational skills. New duties include but not limited to: college preparation and awareness. Was also recruited as the company Computer Technician for all internet and computer problems.
1997-98 La Jicarita Enterprise Community, Administrative Assistant; Responsibilities: Assist management in planning, organizing, coordinating, delegating, and supervising routine and special projects. Additional duties include composing, calculating and editing. Must perform varied administrative and clerical duties for the director and project coordinators, maintain office files, transcribe and produce correspondence, purchase orders, quotes, etc. Must handle confidential and sensitive information plus deal with all levels of management. The position also requires me to be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated with a professional attitude and an ability to work independently.
1996/97 Rio Arriba County Cooperative Extension Service, Program Assistant IV; Responsibilities: Program support in the areas of 4-H, Agriculture, and Home Economics. Main responsibilities were related to the 4-H program through school enrichment and special interest programs. Developed methods to promote and recruit members and volunteers to the program.
1995/96 Guadalupe County Extension Service, Community Liaison; Responsibilities: Providing “Family and Community Education” to the community. Starting up FCE Clubs (25 members), visiting one-to-one with families around the community promoting the FCE organization, and have town meetings that will provide guest speakers from FCE. The program was geared at developing community among the individuals within Guadalupe County.
1993/95 US Dept. of Agriculture, Liaison Office Assistant; Responsibilities: Preparing conference meetings, setting up “youth at risk” programs for 8th grade students in Las Cruces, recruiting college students for USDA positions and other federal agencies either for summer internships, Co-ops, or permanent positions. Communicated steadily with all agencies within the Dept. of Agriculture in Washington D.C.
